The CCC is more than a watchdog for misconduct. It plays an important role in educating and raising awareness of the issues surrounding and incidents of misconduct and its prevention.
The Commission not only investigates allegations of misconduct, it reviews and analyses the results of those investigations and the current systems in place to identify, deal with and prevent misconduct in the public sector.
It plays an important role raising awareness of the capacity and responsibility of individuals and public authorities to report any allegations of misconduct by public officers, including police officers, to the CCC or relevant agency.
In addition, the CCC analyses information gathered in its investigations which may help prevent further misconduct, corruption and organised crime.
It also increases the capacity of public authorities and agencies to identify and prevent misconduct by directly providing advice and training.
