Information for Public Officers

Public officers play a highly valuable and responsible role in the operation of Government, the delivery of key services and management of Western Australia and its diverse communities.

The role of the CCC is to work with public officers and agencies across the State to ensure we deliver open and accountable Government which maintains, encourages and values integrity and honesty and sets high standards for the thousands of public officers and officials it employs.

Our aim is to assist public officers and agencies to actively reduce misconduct as well as to identify and report misconduct.

The CCC works to reduce and prevent misconduct in the Western Australian public sector by:

  • Informing and educating public sector agencies and officers about effective ways to prevent and manage misconduct; and
  • Assessing, investigating and dealing with allegations of misconduct by public officers.

Every report of misconduct received by the Commission is taken seriously and is formally assessed and, if warranted, investigated. Click here to download the process.

Prevention and Education

In addition to working with public sector agencies to minimise and manage misconduct, an important part of the Commission’s role is to work with them towards the prevention of misconduct.

To do this, the Commission:

  • Reviews an agency’s misconduct management systems and cultures and provides advice to them about strengths and weaknesses;
  • Conducts research into misconduct trends and issues;
  • Hosts workshops, forums and seminars to provide the latest information; and
  • Provides education and training opportunities.
