Hearings
The Commission conducts examinations, by way of ‘hearings’, for the purposes of a misconduct investigation or an organised crime investigation. Commission hearings are not judicial proceedings.
Hearings are not generally open to the public. The Commission may open a hearing to the public, if having weighed the benefits of public exposure and public awareness against the potential for prejudice or privacy infringements, it considers that it is in the public interest to do so.
Legal Aid administers a fund a provide advice and representation for public officers called as witnesses or served with notices or summonses by the Corruption and Crime Commission or the Parliamentary Inspector.
