What is police misconduct?

With respect to the WA Police Force, the CCC can take action on all misconduct, not just corruption or serious misconduct. 

Examples of police misconduct could include:

• A police officer disclosing confidential information to friends or associates, private investigators and suspected offenders.
• A police officer using excessive force during the arrest of person, resulting in the person's arm being broken.
• A police officer using a database to obtain details of victims, witnesses or suspects for the purpose of pursuing a sexual relationship.
• A police officer arresting a person without any lawful reason or basis to do so.
• A police officer stationing a breathalyser unit outside a hotel because the hotel had declined to employ his daughter.
