The CCC has tabled a report exposing serious misconduct by the CEO of the Shire of Ravensthorpe who abused their power to misuse public funds for personal benefit.

Serious misconduct by the CEO of the Shire of Ravensthorpe details how Gavin Pollock, who was recently dismissed as CEO of the Shire of Ravensthorpe and had a long career in local government, used the Shire’s funds to pay for a sex worker.

For more than a year, Mr Pollock used his position of authority and the trust placed in him as CEO to register a sex worker as a supplier to the Shire of Ravensthorpe, create false invoices and generate payments totalling almost $55,000. The sole purpose of the scheme was for Mr Pollock to receive sexual services.

Commission action prevented Mr Pollock from processing two further payments to the sex worker for $13,530.

The Commission has formed an opinion of serious misconduct and recommended that criminal charges be considered. It notes its opinion is not to be taken as an opinion or finding that Mr Pollock is guilty of a criminal or disciplinary offence.

The Commission's investigation is ongoing.
