After almost a decade in the role, the Corruption and Crime Commissioner, the Hon John McKechnie AO KC has announced he will retire on 30 June 2025. 

Mr McKechnie was appointed Commissioner in April 2015 and reappointed in June 2021. 

Since 2015, the Commission has produced 277 reports on corruption and police misconduct in Western Australia, including exposing corrupt conduct cases involving millions of dollars and uncovering the largest public sector corruption case in Australia’s history. 
Deputy Commissioner and former WA Supreme Court Judge, Michael Corboy SC will act in the role of Commissioner. Recruitment of a new Commissioner will commence shortly.
